RECOMMENDED READING:

I HIGHLY recommend, not only for mountain flying but for pilots in general, to read "Mountain Flying Bible Revised" by Sparky Imeson. It has a ton of invaluable information in it. Here is the link to get it on Amazon. Please get it and read it. If you can do it before the checkout even better so you get to apply some of the concepts.

PERFORMANCE CALCULATIONS:

In preparation for your checkout, calculate the following performance calculations for KPAO, KTVL, and KTRK. Use weight of 2500 lbs (or max weight on chart for aircraft) for consistency and comparisons. Use 100º F for temperature at field, and assume altimeter setting is 29.92.

  1. Short Field T/O distance over 50’ obstacle

  2. Max rate of climb

  3. Time/fuel/distance to climb

  4. Short field landing distance over 50’ obstacle
